What is Aromatherapy?

"Aromatherapy means “treatment using scents”.  It is a multifaceted healing art which uses the essential oils of aromatic plants and trees to promote health of body and serenity of mind.

The inhaled aroma from these "essential" oils is widely believed to stimulate brain function. Essential oils can also be absorbed through the skin, where they travel through the bloodstream and can promote whole-body healing.

A form of alternative medicine, aromatherapy is gaining momentum. It is used for a variety of applications, including pain relief, mood enhancement and increased cognitive function.

There are a wide number of essential oils available, each with its own healing properties: some are antiviral, anti-inflammatory, pain-relieving, anti-depressant and expectorant.  Other properties of the essential oils which are taken advantage of in aromatherapy are their stimulation, relaxation, digestion improvement and diuretic properties. To get the maximum benefit from essential oils, it should be made from natural, pure raw materials. Synthetically made oils do not work.
